A
block of pink marble was cut down at a sarcophagus or small hedge size.
The front, the two sides and half of the back have been rough-hewed with
small strokes, highlighting the reflectant quality of the grains that, consolidating,
formed the stone. The untouched part of the back side is dark salmon colour,
while the crafted surface is light pink. On the upper side of the block
two areas of marble have been lead levigated. Their sheen and their perfect
horizontality make them look like two small water pounds. From here, four
pairs of rabbit ears spring out: carved out of the same marble but differently
finished and velvety. Where the marble is thinner, light creates transparency
effects and the chromatic vitality of the flesh.
