1000 lire Market
(life goes on)

Surasi Kusolwong (born in Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of Siam and presently living in Bangkok) gives life to a market/ installation in the main square of Casole, a bargain sale of articles of all sorts and all rigorously ‘Made in Thailand’.
Everything is the same price: a way to subvert the hierarchy of values and the purchasing power possessed only by one share of the population. In the main street the artist has arranged festoons made of plastic objects, unusual and unexpected decoration in the heart of Casole: a symphony of colours and a slightly kitsch popular atmosphere, as it should be expected in any festive village fête, which is also a subtle critique of the exceeding power of consumerism.
