And
here's how it all happened...
The
visitors cue outside the abandoned neuro-psychiatric hospital on
the outskirts of Volterra. Now totally empty, the group of buildings
once housed 5000 staff and 10000 inmates, divided between mental
patients, the criminally insane, a juvenile prison and a geriatric
hospital...

|
| |
Inside
the hospital, rows of shoes with magnets in the soles await the
visitors, admitted in small groups.

The
ritual of shoe changing helps the shift in place
|
| |
|
| |
After
donning the shoes - classic brogues for the men and heels for
women, the visitors are accompanied by white clothed intern to
a walk along a long metal floored empty corridor towards Marina,
dancing to "Mambo Italiano" - the magnetized shoes stick
to the corridor floor making the walking hard work, meanwhile
strange figures are in the side rooms along the corridor...

mumbling
and reading never sent letters...
|
| |
|
| |
The
end of the corridor, where Marina dances in her red dress.
