The Project

| The
most recent works realised by Garutti in public spaces share
the feature of being projects which try to meet the demands,
the hopes and the desires of those who inhabit those places.
Garutti has thought of this occasion as a chance to deepen
the meaning of this choice. After having "lived" in this city
for a while, having talked the local people and listened to
their needs and expectations, he has decided to intervene
in restoring one of the buildings of the city, by the people
judged as one of the most symbolic and important ones for
the community, even though unutilised since a long time. The
Italian artist's attitude clearly weakens the role of the
figure of the creating artist, who through his works decides
which is the right standard of beauty and of taste of an age.
Garutti sees his role as progressively transformed into that
of interpreter and mediator of the collective understanding
of a community which since ever has occupied a central role.
In occasion of the opening of the work the choral will perform
a concert in the Duomo. |
