The
work by Tania Bruguera will focus on the relation with
power and the idea of coercion it exercises; an idea which
the Fortress itself recalls.
The
work will be constituted by a performing section, which
will be video recorded and of a series of objects in made
in glass and alabaster (in order to create a further link
with local traditions) recalling the ancient instruments
of torture, and a series of videos. The work presupposes
the active participation of spectators, made protagonists
of the mise en scène of power itself. In this way it is
involved the usage of these objects as well as the passive
fruition of the actions taking place in the videos, so
as to underline the ambiguity and multiplicity of aspects
inherent to the notion of power. The installation is also
conceived as a way to exploit the structural features
of the chosen building.
