Besides
the six artists which have realised their works in the six cities
involved in the project, Arte all'Arte offers other special events.
This year the Australian Geoff Lowe and Jacqueline Riva, propose
a double intervention: a real underwater painting with dimensions
of 122 and 152 cm, which will be fixed at the bottom of the medieval
font in San Gimignano, and an installation "History 3", by the
Centre on Classic in via San Giovanni in San Gimignano, where
the observer will find two monitors showing the video works by
the two artists, placed in a setting constituted by mattresses,
cushions, pictures and magazines, so as to make the spectator
as comfortable as possible.
Lowe & Riva want to create a place of relaxation and reflection
where the role of the spectator can be freed from the usual timing
and modality for the fruition of works of art, getting involved
as a part of it. It is not the first time that these artists create
projects which, although with different modalities, try to find
new way of relation and of involvement, so as to deprive the spectator
of a uniquely passive and contemplative role.
